When do people generally take up their holidays in NZ?
I guess now's about the time, no?

The reason I'm asking is because I contacted the person from HR of my future NZ employer to ask if I could have one of my travel bags sent to the work address as I don't know where I'll be staying by the time the bag will arrive...and I haven't heard anything yet for a couple of days. Normally they respond within the day.
There's still two weeks to go before I leave, but I'd already like to send the bag this week so that I don't have to wait long to receive it.

In the meantime emotions have started to get a grip on me : nervous, excited, a bit scared, sad to leave my family behind, anticipation, just name it. Really weird having these emotions all at once, but I guess this is something you all have gone through/are going through. I think I'm handling it pretty well, and although I can't wait to be on the plane, I'm also absolutely not looking forward to the goodbyes at the airport.

Most people take the holidays after/during xmas which coincides with the long scholl holidays that are due to start in a couple of weeks time. Add to that a load of xmas parties and people trying to tie up loose ends and it just happens to be a busy time of year! I shouldn't stress too much if I were you.

hi feeble,

i can imagine what you must be feeling. the hardest will be saying goodbye to family. after having lived with my parents for the longest time ever, the day they migrated to the states i thought they were just going to have a vacation, you know. next day it dawned on me that omigosh, they're so far away, and it'll be a long time before i see them again! the butterflies in my stomach flew up to the region of my chest and i felt kinda woozy. but you get to adjust too, and even if you miss them everyday, life intrudes, you know? and you still have the phone and the internet to keep in touch.

am not yet in nz, you'll be way ahead of me in that aspect, but i have always had an active imagination. so i imagine, then i feel. that way i can adjust.

good luck! (esp with the bag  )

:cheers
