Hi everyone

Just some info that someone might find useful.

We submitted our application for an NZQA assessment 2 weeks ago (fast tracked) and received an e-mail today saying thanks for the app and that they needed to get my hubbys degree verified (checked). I gasped in horror as I've heard really bad things about people having to get their quals verified and it taking weeks and weeks and delying things horribly.

Anyway, we had a really good experience and this might be a one off but thought I would share it with you. There is a company in South Africa (Kroll or something) who do all the verifying for South Africa qualifications and you have to go online and pay them R57 and they do the process for you. I did this at around 10am this morning and by 10:30am I had the completed report sitting in my e-mail inbox!! I am still suffering from the shock of it. They sent a copy to my NZQA evaluator and he can no go ahead and do the rest of the assessment. Wonderful

I must add that my hubbys qualificiation was quite straight forward so maybe that was why it took such a short time. Dunno! Just really Pleased. Some things do still work propertly.

That sounds like a great system, and good to know that is works.
We are still waiting to hear anything from NZQA, they received our doc 4 weeks ago, not fast tracked (maybe we should have done??) and haven't even had any confirmation that the have got the paperwork. will gove them until end of month and then e mail to see where they are at.

Tentun - very good, (half hour? wow!) may I suggest you put the site here, "for the future generations" ?

I would like to ask to booth of you: did you send the original documents to NZQA?. If so, are you concerned about this? I mean, as far as I could realize, the NZ institutions are well organized, but...

Yes, I did send originals and they have already been returned to me so thankfully they're home safe and sound. I was very worried about sending originals as coming from South Africa I know that to get replacements for all of our docs from the South African institutions would have been such a hassle and probably have taken months and months. Things don't happen so fast over there!!

I sent them from the UK by international signed for post which just makes sure that you get a signature on the other side. I had to pay a fee to NZQA for them to have them couriered back to me and they were returned using DHL International Express within 3 weeks (ok I did fast track application so I can imagine that it would be slower if you just did normal application).

Will find the website for the SA verification - but if anyone else needs help doing this just PM me in the meantime.

Now I am nervous. Haven't even sent mine yet to NZQA. Been a hold up in UK with clarification of qualifications (won't bore you). ITA needs to be in by 7 July. YIKES!!!
