Am I right in thinking that there are no state school places for families on working visas, ie is a state school place only available for those with permanent residency?

No thats not correct Katie. We were here for nearly two years on two year work visa's and both our daughters went to school. If you are on a long term work visa you also do not have to pay international school fee's, but you will have to pay the school donation. The school's my daughters attended asked to have a copy of OH's and my work visa to keep on record.

school is fine - but bear in mind if your children are older then unless you get PR they will pay international fees at uni.
