..what are they and how do I get them ?!
Judging by the way that everytime I go the supermarket or petrol station I get asked, I'm guessing its some kind of points/reward card... but if so, where do I get a card from and how do I start collecting them ?
p.s. if that's the only thing I can't figure out after three weeks, I guess we're doing o.k ...! :laugh

You can apply for one.. http://www.flybuys.co.nz/ it does take a while to save up for anything though...
The other thing to get if you have not already is a onecard http://www.progressive.co.nz/food_for_thought/index.asp it gets you some the special deals in Woolworths and Foodtown, that are not otherwise available to you, and you get money back every so often in vouchers depending how much you spend.

If you haven't already bought a car then some places give flybuys on car purchases - it gave our card a nice starter boost ;)

We've been collecting flybuys for about a year now, mainly from New World, but also Carpet One. We can now afford a blanket! :laugh But every little helps.
We also have a one card for Foodtown, who I shop on-line with via SmileCity, so I also get Smile City points. I've done this for a shorter time but you can change smile city point for cash. If nothing else it acts as a fairly good directory for online shopping sites. Not had anything from one card yet, I must chase them up.
I belong to Singapore Airlines Krisflyer, but haven't collected enough points to get anything yet. Also have an AA card but keep forgetting to use it, I think you can use it in Hammer Hardware.
But probably our best loyalty scheme is the ASB credit card points, which we turn into Farmers vouchers. I now put everything on credit card (we always pay in full monthly) and have had lots of vouchers. :D
So all in all a bit of a loyalty scheme junkie, ohhh how I miss my Boots card! :wah

Same here, got a load of Farmers and Whitcoulls vouchers to do the xmas shopping with! Already got enough for another $100 farmers... and thats just on my account :exit
I also do the smile city thing when I can be bothered, have you ever had anything out of them, Tia?

I've been doing it since December, mainly the weekly Foodtown shop and some Real Groovy and Shop New Zealand purchases at Christmas. I also do the odd daily poll and reward mail.
I currently have 1300 points and I think you need 3200 points to exchange for $30. You can be a lot more proactive about collecting points if you log on daily and they do seem to have a lot more online reward partners now, anything from gifts to printer ink, so I'll probably keep it up.

There are account management fees charged every six months, and the actual fee depends on what card you choose. (ISTR the minimum fee from ASB was $12 for six months. Cards that accumulate rewards points cost a little more, as do ones with cheaper international rate conversions.)
As with most credit cards, the fees are pretty small, and you could probably get them waived entirely if you have other business there (mortgage, share trading account, etc.) Just ask.

You can also use your ASB True Reward point to pay your fees, but I think we worked out that getting Farmers vouchers was better value.

Marcia, its an annual fee per card (2nd card on the same account is a bit cheaper) then there is a true rewards membership fee. All in all about $50 a year roughly total, but you get a point for every $ spent on it, we pay everything with it, pay it off in full each month, so we earn roughly 2000 pts each month between us, 5 months and we build up enough for $100 reward, its worth the $50 a year!
