Hi, Is anyone planning on going to the New Zealand Expo at Earls Court London on 1st April. Has anyone been to one before - is it worth a trip?
We're not job hunting at the minute - but I am looking for various answers re: salaries, lifestely, locations etc.

Thanks
Paula

Hi Paula.

We went to the Manchester Expo a couple of years ago and found it to be a mine of information.

My hubby wasn't actively searching for jobs at that time either, but we found the expo invaluable for other queries apart from jobs, ie banks, estate agents(they are good for a laugh worldwide!) representatives from various parts of NZ and of course New Zealand Immigration had a stand and also held some seminars.

It gave us answers to questions that we hadn't thought of asking !!

One word of warning though - the place was heaving and hot. Not suitable IMHO for small kiddies, in fact even the bigger ones would probably get bored.

Hi Paula
We too are off to London at end of month... OH is not specifically looking for job - we'd just like to get more info.
It was recommended to us by fellow members, and we've decided to leave kids at home... for the Expo - not the holiday :laugh

Good Luck,

Someone should design a forum badge which you could write your username on while walking round ;)

either that or we should all wear a red carnation :laugh

We went to the one in London last October (2006) and had no choice but to take our boys, definitely would have been easier without them. We found it really useful. So much so that we are going to the one in Edinburgh this weekend (without the boys). The difference this time is that OH will be job hunting and we will open bank accounts etc.

We have the whole weekend and no kids in toe, thanks grandma and pop so we are going down on the Friday and staying near earls court, courtesy of air miles, and taking in a show.
Not sure i can wear a red carnation, it would clash wish my eyes!!

No red carnation for me either (it would have to be a white rose if anything!) but look out for the tallest spectacle-wearing bloke there and it'll probably be me!

We will be going - minus kids. I could probably manage a pink carnation but OH would not be seen dead wearing pink:D

We're going too. We also went last Oct as a fact finding mission. This time we are looking for jobs and hope to be out on reccie/interviews in Sept.

No carnation here either but if you see a lass with a huge mop of curly red hair in a pony tail then it's me :roll can't tame it for love nor money.

We went to one in Manchester in 2005 ,before we went I got a few peoples mobile numbers and we met for a coffee and a chat.

It was very warm and you get loads of bags ,so cool clothes and and empty hands are useful.

Good luck :nice1
