Still don't have our stuff so still not online but have dropped by to let you all know that we're happy and well in sunny Hawkes Bay. 9 yr old daughter is loving rural school, we've bought 1.6hectares in somewhere that feels rather like paradise (pm for more details as I'm a bit net-wary) and all is well. Have stopped converting from pounds, love shopping in jandals, have found all kiwi's so far to be warm and honest (including the estate agents, but perhaps we just got lucky). Am totally, totally skint but have everything we ever wanted from the move. Vegemite is fine, fruit and vegetables are fantastic (price and quality), sun has shone endlessly (almost) since arrival ( nine weeks). Cockroaches are not so good but children well trained in art of grab and flush. Ant invasion quite comical (husband the only one foolish/brave/frugal enough to actually eat the light n' right berry cereal ant infestation and all). Terrestrial tv is bearable (like UK but a little lacking) but the beaches, rivers, forests hills and mountains are awesome. Kindie gets the thumbs up, playcentre is (bearable for me) awesome (for 4 yr old). Starry skies delightful.

All's good :nice1

What a wonderful post........so very, very pleased that things are working out well for you and yours.

So, you've still got the joys of your belongings arriving eh?? That will really make you feel more at home than you already do !!

Keep us posted,

Julie

Good to hear everything is going to plan.

We had a big problem with ants and slugs! Check out this thread if you didn't already spot it:

If you're not adverse to chemicals try the Robocan first, then get in a sprayer if that's not enough. We've only had it done once and it seems to still be working.

Not sure there is much you can do about cockroaches. Possibly buy a bomb from Hammer Hardware, if you've got a villa you can set it off in the roof space and it will go into the gaps in the walls also.

Otherwise just invest in plenty of Klip it containers - they do cereal ones! :D

Cheers

Tia
