Hi everyone,

I'm very confused about the LTSSL and I hope someone can help me.

What does the "long term skill shortage list requirements" mean? http://www.immigration.govt.nz/nzis/operations_manual/5618.htm
I see that in my field, IT, there is "three years relevant work experience" in addition to a level 7 qualification.
Does that mean that I need to have three years experience to claim points for work experience in an area of absolute skills shortage?
I will have only two years experience at the end of this year and I thought you needed 2-5 years to claim bonus points for work experience in a area of absolute skills shortage.
Why do they mention three years experience requirement?
Thanx very much for your help

It means that you need three years' relevant work experience in order to claim the bonus points for LTSS, either for a job offer or work experience. You could claim the standard work experience points with two year's experience, but it might be worth your while to wait, unless you already have 140 or more points. That's because NZIS give some weighting in their selection process for people who fulfil LTSS requirements. HTH

Thank you for your answer jaycee.
I was was hoping that if my qualification is recognised I could be in this group:
"All EOIs claiming 10 points for work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage and with a points total between 115 and 135 points"
or maybe this one
"All those between 125 and 135 points without a job/offer claiming points for work experience in an area of absolute skills shortage (between 2-5 years)"
But with your anwser, I understand that I need the three year experience to claim points for work experience in an area of absolute skills shortage.
