Well, it's been 2 months now and not a dickybird. How long did you leave it before contacting them? And how did you do it, telephone or email?? Cos this is winding me up now

Well before 2 months! I think I contacted them within about 2 weeks and then again 2 weeks later and I think she just wanted rid of me, so they turned things round pretty quickly for me. This was 2 years ago, so things could have changed since then, but I think persistence pays. Also, I paid extra for the courier service. Just give them a polite reminder! It can't harm..

I know how you are feeling, I have waited 6 weeks and not heard anything, will be e mailing on Monday and then possibly phoning later in week.
Just had a message from Mike and Steff who sent theirs off just before Christmas and have just got them back this week, so it sounds like we may be 4 weeks away yet. Keep me posted if you hear anything and I will let you know the outcome of my e mail and calls.

I didnt wait 2 months i think i emailed after 2 or 3 weeks and they were very good and told me they were waiting for my college in uk to reply to them
it was uk holding things up not them.

oh yes, same here. It was UK holding things up. I actually found NZQA to be pretty efficient!

We put in our pre-assess on the 3rd Jan I think it was and still haven't had anything. Originally the problem was ours we'd clicked on the wrong link and sent in a PGDip assessment form by mistake. E-mails don't work... had to call them after a month. Sent in the correct form beginning of february and still waiting. E-mails again didn't work so now I forget e-mails and just call them. They are very helpful on the phone.

1st call... the computer system had not activated our application properly
2nd call...... because of our original mistake they had shelved it 'cause they didn't know if it had been paid for or not....... erm..... e-mail me?
Now... I can't get them off e-mail.... 5 so far and counting lol. With a bit of luck we will know before we go to the expo. this weekend fingers crossed and excited bounces:nice1

Hi Myrk,

Could I be cheeky enough to ask for the email address that has answered you? Like you, I've emailed twice and have had no joy. Not absolutely sure I'm emailing the right department though.

And was it a free-phone number or did you have to cough up?

Many thanks!

I e mailed the helpdesk and they forwarded the e mail to the qualifications recognition service, but I hadn't heard anything so I have just phoned then. spoke to a very nice man called Peter, who was english and had lived in Warrington. He said that the file had not been passed onto an evaluator. So much for the 20 days then. He said he would pass the file on today and he gave me his direct number to phone him again in a week to check on progress. if you need the number it is 0064 44633220

Hi

Sorry, didn't read this in time..... looks like your sorted now. The bloke I spoke to was a Manager 'cause they couldn't understand what had happened with our case.... so he probably wouldn't answer you either. :roll

We used the number on the website and paid for the call....... it didn't come to much though.

Hope things move more swiftly for you now.

There's a message from them somewhere that says 'due to volume of applications..' or something like that. From what I can gather there's quite a stampede heading south. I'm just getting my paperwork together. One more transcript to go it's all systems up and running. Can't wait.

Got the following e mail back from them today:

Due to the high volume of requests for qualification assessments since
the New Year we are currently unable to honour requests for standard
applications in the published timeline of twenty working days. They will
take at least thirty working days to complete once allocated to an
evaluator in due course. The status of your application is awaiting
allocation. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your
patience.

I am livid, what is the point of saying 20 days, when a month after it was sent they haven't even allocated it yet, and then saying it will be a further 30 days after allocation, not allowing for delays at this end.

OH needs to resign in 7 weeks if we are to make september.

speckythecky,

I hear your frustration! We are hoping to make it to NZ in September, too.

My OH plans to put in his notice in a few weeks, and I'll be "off for the summer" in June (I'm a teacher) with the intent to tell my boss I'm not renewing my contract.

At NZQA's current slow rate, there's no way we'll KNOW anytime soon for sure whether we will have NZQA and Teachers Council Reg. to complete the ITA, which is already in London awaiting these documents. I'm just not sure how long they will hold my ITA waiting on NZQA....however, we are taking a huge leap of faith by quitting our jobs in the meantime so that we can pack up our house here, get cats prepared, etc.

It's so frustrating. It seems that they should have increased their NZQA staff by double when they changed the rule in Dec, which requires so many more applicants to get full assessment who would not have needed it before.

Grr!

Phoned again last night, still not allocated despite the fact that they took my money 5 weeks ago.
Having been at expo we have been told that it would be better for us to go down EOI / PR route and need assessment as may have 135 points without job offer or may only have 100 points, depends on whether they agree to OH's degree and experience sa covering early years teaching sufficiently

phoned again tonight. despite being told last week and last night that they would leave the file out for an evaluator to look at, we have now been told that it will be at least another 2 weeks before they even pass it to an evaluator, and then could be a couple of months before we hear anything. September is looking very dodgy now as OH needs to hand notice in during May in order to finish by the school hols.
will keep phoning if only to annoy them as much as they are annoying me.

I got the very same email. Yet they have just mailed back my original documents. Since we are in transit to NZ they mailed the documents to my in-laws who will then mail it to me. I can't wait to see what the letter says. And yes they took my money a few weeks back.
