I have just discovered that there may be some help with relocation expenses for teachers and a finders fee for the schools that employ them. Has anyone applied and/or received this?

back in January I read about a bursary of $4000nz for teachers relocation expenses but I can't find any information about it at the moment. At the time I couldn't find how to apply but I think I saved the page on my desk top. I will try and look tonight when I get home and if I find anything I will post later.

I have completed some research about this. It is depended upon length of time in NZ before employment, the length of your contract (or contracts), and the location of your teacher training.

For a non-NZ trained teacher who secures employment for a half-year or more of full-time teaching that teacher is currently eligible for a $3000 NZ relocation grant payable upon completion of a half year.

I believe that the grant must be applied for within 18 weeks of starting employment and that employment needs to start within 4 months of arriving in NZ, but I could be wrong about that.

Cheers, Mark.

I've got the forms (still in the research stage mind you - waiting for all my evidence of work experience to come back from previous schools) but wouldn't mind hearing if anyone has benefitted. It looks like schools can get a lump sum for employing us too.
