Hi
I wonder if anyone knows the answer - am sure someone will!
We are handing our completed ITA into the London Office in May and then heading out to NZ as visitors in the hope we'll secure a job and get the Residency through quicker. My hubby has had some great feedback from employers so it shouldn't take long.
Can anyone tell me - if we ship our 20ft container out at that point - what charges will we incur once it docks if our residency hasn't come through by then ????

Cheers for any help!

I think they may hold a bond, this has been covered before but I can't remember the figures if they were mentioned. try doing a forum search and see what comes up.

Veronica is right..this has another thread.

From memory you should pay all sorts of cost as a non resident but there seems to be ways you get round this

We did this .. our NZ freight forwarder said we might have to pay a bond of about $1,000 but this didn't seem to be relative to what we would have had to pay if we were PR holders - our goods were valued at £15,000. He took a copy of our letter inviting us to apply for residence and gave it to customs .. they said fine - no charge, no deposit. There was no follow-up to make sure that we did get PR .. which happened 6 weeks later.
