We've seen lots of people here comment on how much they think is a good/bad salary etc, but that the end of the day how much are people in New Zealand getting by on, per month, for everything EXCEPT the mortgage, and is it enough?

Voted for tough, but if we have a good month where there are no "surprises" medical/car breakdowns etc then its enough... but those months have been few and far between lately... and winter is coming with its higher power bills too....

Quite - I'm single with no dependents (unless you count the kittens), so for me it's enough. If I had children to feed and clothe and school and everything else that goes with having children I don't think it would be... But, I'm too selfish too have kids and give up my fun for nappies just yet!

We certainly dont have the disposable income that we enjoyed in uk, but that is mainly down to two factors. We live in one of the more expensive parts of the country property wise, with relatively low wages. We could have bought something cheaper house wise, but considered all angles and plumped for a new build. Definately NO regrets for us so far.

Yep, but I couldn't find a way round that unless I had about 25 poll choices ;) so I plumped for this more generic one otherwise I'd have had to add in location and family size.

Interesting so far tho....

I voted under one of the it's tough categories because it is but it's not a deal breaker for us. Finances were tough in the UK for us too.

We're doing OK for money but only because we both work. I'm not sure how we would cope with only one wage coming in.

That's probably the same for us. I voted enough, but we do both work. Mind you, I was a working mum in the UK too and always knew I would have to be here.
