Hi all,

Thought I would update you as to our progress. Denise and I had our passports back from NZ House last week with the coveted blue stickers in them. We are well chuffed!!!

The shipping company comes this Friday for our belongings to start their lengthy trip 'Down Under'. We only have part of a container so may have to wait a bit before they go.

We have booked our flights and will be leaving via Heathrow bound for Auckland on Wednesday 23rd May hoooorah! Back to back winters for us. Reassure me again someone that it will be better than England's winter????

Re the blue stickers we have our residency sticker and a returning residents visa. Re the latter is it the case if we go on holiday outside of NZ then that is what we use to return? I am a bit unclear. I think I let them know and prove I am settled in my new job and the restrictions are removed.

Hardly a minute goes by when I am not thinking of our new life. I feel for all those who have had to wait and continue to do so. Keep at it guys!!

Well done guys on those stickers. All the best with the shippers later on this week. They work hard and fast, so before you know it they'll be in and out before you know it. as for your question Back to back winters for us. Reassure me again someone that it will be better than England's winter????
answer it is, at least here on the NI anyway. Is this the island your heading to?

Hi Bagpussr

Congratulations on the blue stickers:raebanana :raebanana :raebanana - it must be a great relief?

Re: the part container - are you only taking a few things with you? The reason Iam asking is, we intend only to take pictures, books, cd's and ornaments no furniture, and wondered if this was a better option than buying extra suitcases and paying excess baggage?

Keeping my finger's crossed that all goes well on Friday

regards

Thanks guys for your support!!!

Thanks about the winter weather reassurance!! We shall be hopefully living in the North Shore in one of the suburbs. We will visit some estate agents when we get there. We have been browsing the 'Where to live in Auckland' book. Seems very useful.

Re the part container v full container etc.. We decided agsinst too much furniture to ship as had we been staying in the Uk we would have been looking to renew our beds and sofas etc this year sometime. We wanted to ship our kitchen table and chairs but our house buyers wanted them I liked them but oh well needed to sell the house more!

We went with PSS in the end as they seemed competeive and had a good reputation. I will update the forum as to how the move goes.;)
