All
I have a telephone interview tomorrow with Unysis and when checking the skills shortage my job role is not on there.
The job I am going for is a Bid Manager. If I was offered this role can I still go down the route of PR?
Any help / suggestions welcome.

yes,
you do not need to have a job in a shortage area to get pr. check the on line eoi check to see how many points you get with the job.

Unysis in Auckland are quite a nice company to work for. I spent 3 months there last year.

Bid Managers are hard to find down here in Welly. make sure you have the right skills to go with the job for PR. Ie. previous bid or managment skills. I am sure Unisys will help in eveyway if you get lucky.
good luck and have all those answers to all those trick questions. Why do you want to move to NZ? what is your weka points? What if you do not like NZ what will you do? Practice with someone beforehand, you'd be surprised how out of practice you might be. My OH blew his first interview as had not done one for 7 years. L:east they cant see you unless its Skype of course.
You will be fine.
If I see any other bid roles will let you know. Just IT?

I had my telephone interview and it went really well and feedback was I am first choice. However I now have to do Psychometric Tests.
Has anyone had any experience of these and can tell me where I can get examples to practice on. The test are verbal reasoning, numeric reasoning and behaviour.
All suggestions welcome.

Angela,
Sorry did not see your thread before submitting my last one. I have 8 years previous bid managment experience so I am hoping that will be ok.
I am looking for bid manager roles in IT, Telecommuncations (my previous background) and traffic managment.
I finally feel things are moving now, sold our house 3 weeks ago and exchange contracts next week, so if I get this role at Unysis it will fit in nicely with my timescales.

There are quite a few psychometric tests online, for example here:
http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/schoolsanddivisions/divisions/stude/carsv/jobhunting/applications_interviews/psychometric.html
Or just Google for them.
I've only ever done this once for a job in the UK - believe it or not for a part-time job in Tesco's. I'm sure you'll be fine :)
Good luck with the job!

We complete on our house on 30th April and will be going to live with inlaws for 4 weeks.
I am due to start my new job at begining of June (hopefully)
With regards Immunisation for the children, does anyone know how I go about getting them up date for what is required over in NZ. One of the nurses at my suregy said that children are given the BCG vaccaination over in NZ but not here?

That's good news, congratulations on the job! :nice1
When in NZ I would just contact a plunket nurse or the nurse at the GP's office of your choice to see how you fit in the NZ scheme. I don't think it will be a problem.

I saw the job advsertised through Seek website, so applied. Got a call from Hudson and after an chat over the phone they put me forward for the role.
Unisys were happy just to do a telephone interview with me as the skill is limited and got through the interview, then had to do psychometric test which I passed and was then offered the job.
It was obviously meant to be, but it took six months from first starting to apply for jobs to get a job offer. Just have to keep applying for jobs...

Not sure, but My husband and I went to the London Expo couple weeks ago and talking to the recruitement agencies there for hubby (Business Analyst) they said once we arrive he should find it it difficult to get a job as IT is a skills shortgage.
Maybe a trip out there might be an idea if you can. My hubby went out in Nov last year but wrong time to go as it all closing down for christmas.

There is always work available for systems or business analysts, a little does depend on what systems/applications etc you have experience with, though this possibly only influences the final pay packet.
Security is not too big at the moment in NZ, though there is definitely a strong market for those with the right experience.
This market is definitely growing as security and business continuity issues are becoming more recognised and given a higher priority.
