  Hi everyone
We are making progress with our application but still at stage where we are trying to track down all my qualifications to be assessed and birth certificates etc. In the meantime we are ploughing our way through questions on EOI- thank goodness you only fill it in once. Anyway I am trying to claim points for my hubbys qualification as that would take us over the magic 140 points. However I can't find it on the list. He has an ordinary national diploma not a higher in engineering. Can he claim any points for this? Is it the equivalent of higher national certificate agghhh!!! Tried to ask question with the contact people and they just said if it wasn't on the list it would have to be assessed by NZQA. We are already forking out for assessment of my qualifications do we really have to do it twice:confused: ? If anyone has had any experience of this we would love to here from you.
Thanks dibber and Coley

if its not on the list and you want to claim points for it then you will need it assessing.

but the question is do you actually need the points? aren't you going to be claiming points for an area of absolute shortage as a secondary school teacher? if so you'll get selected even if you don't have 140points. once you are selected you wont get treated anymore favourably becuase you had 140points instead of say 130.

so i guess it would be worth having a think about whether you actually need it or not. how many points do you have now and what are you claiming them for?

I second Trigirls post. You should get pulled from the pool on 130 points so shouldn't need the extra 10.

I will definayely take your advice rather than fork out more money. We will keep our fingers crossed that 130 points is enough.
Cheers
Diane:)
