Title says it all really - Fiona was interviewed yesterday by our CO and luckily we'd done as advised here and prepared a bit beforehand. The CO asked pretty much the top 15 questions from our list so we had answers written down and at hand for each of them. Maybe not great answers but answers nonetheless :) I'd recommend that anyone in line for their interview do the same, it makes a huge difference, avoiding the pregnant pauses pauses and um's and ah's that signify that you haven't thought of that! Anyways, we may well hear by Friday, if not within a week and then it's all just a question of timing and location (see additional threads elsewhere!)

Cheers

Ian

Good luck !! did they give you any clues to how succesful you might be? It seems ages since we did all that now and i,d have to look at the paperwork to see who our co was but he was very nice. I think it took 3 weeks for the official results though.

Hi - good luck and hope you hear by Friday. BTW what's the name of your CO? Ours is Amelia Foley. What sorts of questions did they ask you?

Ours is Ann with a double barreled surname which I forget. They asked the usuals (this is coming 2nd hand as it was my wife they talked to)

What will you do when you arrive?
Why NZ?
What do you know about yr industry in NZ?
How much do you expect to earn?
How much will you need to live on?
Where will you live?
How much will a rental be?
How much will you pay for yr house?
What will you do if you don't have a job before you get here?
When do you want to come?
How will you make friends?
have you ever moved before?

What we did was cut and paste some Q's from an earlier post on here, thought about answers, wrote 'em down and printed the whole thing out as a cheat sheet. Fiona reckons they asked about the top 15 questions from the list......

Hope yours comes through soon :)

Congrats Ian! There was you worrying you hadn't heard anything and you've now been interviewed and we're still waiting for an interview date (ITA's submitted same day). Hopefully it won't be long for us either now but we're off on our reccie on Sat :) so we'll probably hear something when we get back now.

just read this and am curious as to what kind of questions we get asked at the interview. We are retired and hoping to hear soon so we can join our families in North Island

Here are the exact questions my immigration officer asked, but I know from other lists on the forum that they can vary slightly (a search of "interview questions" will pull up relevant posts):

Basic who are you questions to prove identity (middle name, mother's maiden name).

Why did we choose NZ?
What kind and to what extent of research have we done on NZ?
What other places, if any, have we considered before choosing NZ?
What concerns do I have about settling there (any barriers we anticipate)?
What areas are we considering for settlement, or are we going to just check everything out and then decide?
Have I ever moved away from my hometown before?
What are my plans regarding a job?
What if I can't find a job in my field?
Do I plan to get a job before coming to NZ or wait till I get there?
What barriers do I antipate regarding getting a job?
(same questions were asked about my OH--his current job, same or different job in NZ? other skills he has, oldest daughter's career prospects, youngest daughter's uni plans)
Financially, how do we plan to live--buy house, rent, pay utilities?
How will my family successfully integrate into the community where we settle?
Do we have relatives/friends in NZ?
Have you ever visited NZ? when, how long, why?

Ok...that's about it!(from a recent thread)
