My OH want to ask...
As he research his old papers of his 1955 landrover that he brought in feb from Nelson that been in New Zealand since 1955. Full of history of landrover in NZ, but was from UK orginally, arrived to Auckland in 1955 as brand new.
He has found lots of paperworks showing in pounds and pence, even in 1964's.
His question is, had NZ currency always been dollars and cents or was pounds and pences?
If was in pounds and pences, when did the changeover to dollars and cents happened?
Thanks (and sorry for mind-blowing questions ;) )

NZ moved from pounds to dollars on 10 July 1967.

Moved when NZ went decimal, as Jo Jo says, in 1967.

In 1963 the Government decided to decimalise - the changeover, dubbed `Decimal Currency' (DC) day, was set for 10 July 1967. There were public discussions over what the new decimal money might be called. Words such as `kiwi' and `zeal' were proposed to avoid confusion with `dollar', which most people at the time associated with American money. In the end, though, the word `dollar' was selected, and "Mr Dollar" became the symbol of the transition.
