Well, the house is finally decorated, cleaner than it's been for the past 11 years , decluttered, valuers have been in and it's going on the market as soon as we get back from our reccie which starts on Saturday.:nice1 Part of my business has been sold and we feel we can now actually relax and enjoy our trip feeling that things are starting to come together at last.
NZ here we come !(if only for 3 weeks initially)
The only downer is the flight with a littl'un who has promised me she'll be the only one staying awake on what we have optimistically named 'the sleep plane'. Unfortunately I think that will be the case as she tends to get hyper as soon as hits a plane! Anyone have any recommendations for knocking them out (apart from the obvious!).
ps - if StevieD is reading this, Sarah has now transferred her affections elsewhere as she told the estate agent that she loves him and he too is gorgeous! Sorry - don't be too downhearted!:laugh

children can't stay awake for 24 hrs, she will sleep sometime. Unfortunately it'll probably be at a different time to you :)
Enjoy the trip!

Have a great trip.
You could try the obvious, calpol. It usually works with my two although not for 24 hours.
Hope the flights are not too horrendous. When we first did it our eldest was a month old and slept most of the way. When he wasn't asleep, the stewardesses were all over him so we got peace anyway. not much help with sarah unless she find a nice steward and transfers her affections to him for the flight.
See you on the 28th

We tried both Phenergan and Vallergan. The former with no success at all, the latter might have helped, but they might have slept anyway.
I travelled alone with two year old twins, and when I explained that to the doctor in NZ, she quite happily prescribed the Vallergan.
Phenergan is over the counter stuff.
I recommend trying it before, as apparently they can be counter indicative, and you'll end up with a child even more hyper :)

He didn't have a beard no :laugh but it was stange - she was all over one of them but totally ignored the other! I am hoping and praying we don't have a bearded man next to us on the plane as we won't be able to restrain her. A bearded air steward may keep her occupied - have to say I've never seen a bearded steward though.

Phenergan was suggested by a friend but when I read the contra-indications - ie the possibility of a hyper child I decided to give it a miss and we don't have time to try it now. The thought of littl'un even more hyper is frightening!

Just put the kids films and tv programmes on and she'll soon be calm enough to sleep :D We had 3, 3 and under at the time we flew to emigrate here, we thought they wouldn't sleep at all but slept nearly the whole way :nice1
