Stupid question i know. I know its Autumn but the temperatures in Wellington still seem pretty warm to us. We had frost the other day. We're in Wellington area from 6th to 20th April. So what should we bring ? Thanks

4 seasons worth of clothes :D Seriously anywhere in NZ can have 4 seasons in one day.
Lots of layers and a waterproof should be ok. It's really hard to tell what it's going to be like the weather has been all over the place since autumn began. It has been really, really hot over the past few days, I don't think it'll last too much longer though.
HTH :)

Erm, well with the year we're having everything from summer clothes to ski jacket?! ;)
We had 24 degrees yesterday & it was sweltering, but then last week I was wearing jeans & a jumper & had the heating on!! I'd certainly pack a rain jacket - you never know when you might need it & most Wellingtonians don't own an umbrella - you'll find out why if you try & use one on a windy day! Then I think things you can layer depending on the weather - so t-shirts, long-sleeved t-shirts, and a couple of jumpers/cardi's (as soon as the sun goes down so does the temperature) and trousers oh and good walking shoes because sounds like you're doing a reccy trip & you'll be on your feet a lot - the city is easily walkable. Most places are very casual so don't worry about bringing smart clothes unless you're going for interviews (then definitely dress up regardless of whether everyone else in the organisation is slopping around in jeans & t-shirts) - you can get away with jeans in 99% of places - even 'posh' restaurants. Its not usually a really windy time of year in April - usually quite settled & nice days but not too hot, but the way the weather has been going it hasn't been 'normal' since about last June/July so could be a mixed bag!

A light northerly breeze and a clear day, can bring 24% in summer. Though the wind can change direction and come from the South and it is down to 14c.
The wind can change direction both morning and afternoon - so hence the madness of the temprature, the sun can be bright and shinning, one day hot the other cold..
Because of the shape of the mountains, and Wellington harbour being a small gap between them, when it blows it blows, and the harbour becomes a funnel.
On the upside, you will see not much litter in the streets as it all gets blown away.:laugh
All part of the madness of Wellington weather.
When it rains it pours beyond belief (monsoon style) - all part of the fun.
A positive attitude helps - so learn to enyoy it.
