Well not much to say really :roll
Other than that it's the best move we made for the family and we're incredibly settled and enjoying NZ life.
Two of the kids have very strong NZ accents, the third is slowly getting there. They have so many friends I can't keep track ! We've got a huge network of friends also and now we've finally got someone to ring and babysit. Our friends are great and it's always a case of helping someone out and they'll help you out, finally being rewarded with some child free days, only taken 6 years to get there :D
For us in the beginning we didn't come out with a huge of pot of money and it's been tough, we're still settling down finances and it sometimes blows up in our face and we have a couple of tight months. Our mortgage (gasp yes we do have a mortgage) isn't small but we're managing. Part of that is that we're not into consumerism like the UK. I'm not shopping at every chance I get and we don't feel the need to keep up with the 'Joneses' anymore. Life doesn't revolve around what the latest gadget is and which designer shoes to get next.
I'm looking at getting back to work in the next couple of months. Got to get the real estate training under way, looking forward to it after 7 years off work. OH has changed jobs and is enjoying his new job, big change after 10 years with the same company. He has a lot of social events organised via his work which is more than his UK company could do.
Moving here was way outside both our comfort zones but in some way it's become home to us and the only home we seem to have every known. OH was only saying this evening that it feels like we've been forever, know exactly how he feels.
NZ as you know isn't utopia far from it but then wouldn't everyone in the world want to be living here if it was :o
Here's to another year and Citizenship application :exit
