Hi everyone

We have just started the process of getting quotes for removal. I am curious about the shipping insurance costs. we have been told it's £35.00 for every £1000 insured, is this a general price or can we try and get it cheaper?

Thanks

Julie

3.5% is about std for the quotes from the shippers. Have you tried a specialist insurer. I am sure I saw a thread about this somewhere. try this one http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=10403

Check out this thread

I looked it up because my post there was for insurance leaving NZ (to OZ). Then I realised you're moving to NZ not moving away. More answers in the "making the move" forum.

We went with shippers insurance as we did not know any better at the time....

However Letton Percival is a name that keeps cropping up, may be worth looking into them, they seem to be a lot cheaper than getting it all packaged in together. Look for posts by Smiler, she had to claim from them (if my memmory is correct!), so may give you an insight to that side of things too.....

Just do a Google for Letton Percival UK.

They were the company that we used and if memory serves me right, I think they charged something in the region of 1.5%

Very helpful when I spoke to them over the phone and really easy forms to fill in too - always a bonus IMHO.

Good luck,

Julie

I used Letton Percival and they were fine and the cheapest at the time.

Also, reassuringly their underwriters did pay out when a lamp was damaged in transit.
