Hi everyone,

I was wondering if someone had first-hand experience about getting criminal record checks done in NZ. I've had police here tell me that it takes 'a long time', and I thought I remembered reading that elsewhere on the forum too.

However, looking at this website, looks like 20 working days is the norm.

Anybody else experience otherwise?

Is this for immigration purposes? If so the immigration dept does them for you.

If not, I got mine (for employment purposes) after just over two weeks.

Thanks Anna. yes for immi. :yes I'm basically impatient, and am wondering how long this step will take. I'm hoping for the two weeks :nice1

We got ours (for adoption purposes not immi purposes but I'm guessing police just process them as they come in regardless of what they're for) within about 2 weeks but adoption service did it all for us - we just filled forms in & they went directly back to them.
