Hi
I have heard through someone going into Wellington Immigration this week, that they have changed the rules and it now takes 1 month to get a work permit if you have a job offer! they will not process it there and then like they used to.

I am hoping she has got this wrong but that is what they told her. Has anyone else heard this or anything different. This would make a dramatical change and problem for so many, how many employers would wait a month? And who wants to wait a mont before earning any money.

Yes, there's now a four week wait before they even begin processing it *sigh*. At least I am in a position where I can get my application in early.

Although they do still offer same day service for people on the shortage list, I believe.

Yes 1 month is now the official time period before a case/visa officer is assigned for work visa applications, though as Anna said there are exceptions and (to a certain degree) some case by case flexibility.

Hi

I was at the London expo last weekennd and I asked about work permits for NZ. They told me face to face that the process time is now 4 to 6 weeks, so I would use this as a time frame if I was you. May be faster if your already over there though :)
