Hi everyone. We are now hoping to arrive in Taranga on 12th May. INZ have said Residency App should be done by then but if not we can apply for temporary permits 'til everything finalised. Deb has start date for her job of 21st so we hope the 12th will be OK. Anyway, reason for thread - I've started making enquiries with Real Estate Agents but wondered if any of you guys could help. We intend buying after a few months but, while we explore the different areas of Tauranga we need to rent. Preferably furnished and preferably in the Mount area as we think the girls will be going to school there. Now the big problem, as far as I can see with houses to rent on the internet ... we are bringing our dog and 2 cats. Any ideas?? We know that Mount Maunganui is a popular holiday destination for New Zealanders and know someone who rented a bach for a few months in the winter 'til they bought a house. We wondered what the costs would be for a longish term rent and whether we would have a better chance of finding somewhere that allowed pets - surely New Zealanders take their dogs with them when they go on holiday.

Hi Deb and Andy

Like you, we are also hoping to live somewhere in the Tauranga area, with a teenage daughter and 1 dog.
My OH is there at the moment, checking out different locations and looking at schools.

We also will be renting initially, but know that we will settle better once we have purchased our own property.

As an area, you will notice that the house prices are not cheap, especially in Mount Maunganui, but if it puts your mind at ease, there are some excellent schools in the area for your girls, and the people are extremely friendly.

He's back home in the UK next week, so I will get the low down, and look at some pictures etc.:yes

Do let us know if you come up with anything in the meantime - the 12th of May is not far away.

Kind regards

LesleyS:)
