Hope someone can help here. I'm starting to think about primary schooling - we're moving to Gisborne in February. We will be renting initially but obviously won't know where until we have found it :? My eldest will need to go into school straight away or thereabouts so what do I do about that? I understand that the schools are really strict on their catchment areas so is it worth me investigating and finding the good ones on the web and approaching them or do I have to just take pot luck when we get there (which doesn't appeal!). Also, does anyone know any property agents in Gisborne that deal with rentals?

Hi,

Not going to Gisborne ourselves, but notice that according to http://www.schoolzones.co.nz/main.asp Wainui Beach School is the only one with a catchment zone.

Although it may be nice to get your daughter into school quickly, it may be best to get rented accommodation or a property purchased beforehand so that she doesn't have to move school again.

I know I've been a little preoccupied lately (we leave on 14th Feb :nice1 ) but I completely forgot about this thread that I started - many apologies!!! Of course, now I am thinking about schooling even harder, did a search and look what I found! :oops: :oops:

Hmmm - let's hope the grey cells work a little better upside down. Thanks for links Glenda - I'll check them out and the answer to your question at last Carol is that my eldest is five and a half - not desperate to get him into school for any pressing educational reason but I think he will need to make some new friends by then - we are spending a couple of weeks getting to Gisborne from Auckland, holidaying basically which will be great, and then we'll be in a motel for some time, until our gear arrives and we can find a rental and that I think will be a bit less enchanting for him!

Back to the packing now.... I've got the good job - OH is outside cleaning the garden stuff :clap
