Has anyone travelled Premium Economy from the UK to NZ? How did you find it?

Also does anyone know which airlines offer a premium economy, or somewhere I can find a comparison?

We have family thinking of coming over and as we have only travelled Singapore Air so we can't offer any info.

They want to book as soon as possible as they want to come over in June, so any quick responses will be much appreciated. :nice1

Cheers

I looked into it on Air NZ and decided at the time that it wasn't worth it...From what I remember the pitch of the seat is a bit better but there isn't anymore leg room. The food is upgraded but I decided that for the additional money it wasn't worth it. To be fair I think it was because I knew I was going to be in the bulk head with Blythe so it just didn't seem worth it for better food. Good luck.

Have a feeling that Emirates do something of that ilk. give them a try.

Have a look at Eva Air.

Cost us about £900 each and includes a 24 hour stop over in Taipei (sp) with the hotel and breakfast paid for and cars that picked us up and returned us to the airport there.

We enjoyed it, although there was only the two of us, no kiddies.

I tend to think that if kiddies are involved, Singapore Airlines has an excellent reputation.

When we go back to the UK next year for our daughters wedding, we will go the cheapest and the quickest route we can find.
Have talked it through and decided that we just want to get the flights over with and get to our destination a.s.a.p.

Having said that, we haven't seen Singapore...........oh decisions, decisions.

Look at EVA Air. They do a premium class, we went their busness class and it was fab as you would expect but a fraction of the cost of other airlines. We had paid the equivalant to premium from other airlines for our seats. EVA own web site is a pain to use and they only leave the UK on wednesdays (or at least they did when we used them) but Tralfinders use them and sorted the tickets for us no hassel. Worth a look.

Has anyone booked flights with Eva recently ? I was trying to get quotes for them and had no joy whatsoever (phone, web, agents) ???

Tia,

If you want PE Air NZ is your best bet. Is it worth the money? IMHO it depends on what route you take and if you can get the seats you want. Ideally you want to book both ways via HK (747) and request seats in the upstairs cabin in a row of two. There is extra leg room and the seat is very slightly wider. They have recently included the same drinks available to business class passengers, so Veuve Cliquot all round !

If all you could get was via LAX I wouldn't bother. The config is shocking and doesn't offer much benefit at all. The cabin upstairs on the 747 is quieter and it doesn't feel like your surrounded by 100's of people.....because your not.

A good price PE rtn to AKL is about £1500/£1600 (we got ours for $4k ;))

Isn't it just?!!! I gave up in the end, I'll tell them to ring Trailfinders to check it out.

What is Taipei like as an airport? Do you have to have a stopover due to the infrequency of the flights?

Those seats look great - definitely a top tip! :nice1 I had discounted Air NZ because I though they only flew via LA, but Hong Kong looks nicer, shorter and cheaper. Its coming in at about £1750 for a return once taxes have been included.

Thanks everyone for the super fast replies, I have already emailed the info.
