Well we landed in Auckland on 13th March 2007 and needed a bit of a rest after travelling from Manchester Via Singapore with a 14hr stop at Changi Airport, we picked up our rental and headed for Birkenhead (motor lodge).
After sleeping for a while we went to the local New World shop and bought some supplys and then tried to go to bed again and settle the kids and ourselfs to the local sleeptimes (didnt work).
Two days later we had bought a car and took back the rental (which they gave us a credit note for 4 days which was left on the hire agrement ).
On 17th March we drove to Tauranga to our next motel from which we started to look for a house to rent (which there was a lot to choose from), but with having sold our house and car in England and had no debts anywhere it means that you dont exist so we had problems in getting a bank account and a house, when we had got them two we then had problems getting a landline and broadband,But by 2nd April everything was up and running .
I started to look for work on fri 23rd March and got an Interview for mon 26th March and had a job offer 28th March so now just waiting for a work visa as we came over on a visitors permit, the sooner the better as we need to get our 5yr old son into school so he can make some new friends , Isent my job offer to NZ House in London and they have said that is OK for me to continue our PR application from here so at the moment evey thing is moving quite smoothly, we were hopeing that there may be some people in the Tauranga,Mt Maungani,Papamoa or surrounding areas who could give us any advise on where to go and what to do or where not to go and what not to do.
This morning we hid some chocolate eggs in the front of our house for the kids to try and find which was going fine till some ids from a holiday fenal a few houses up ( from auckland not very chatty) seen the eggs and started to run round and take them all until I politely told them to put them all back except for one each as there was 4 of them , so at the moment we have got 2 very hypo kids bouncing off the walls, anyway will have to go will post again in about a month.

Try uploading to photobucket.com (http://photobucket.com/). After you join (for free), when you go to upload an image you can slect image size options - message board size, email size, or by the numbers. Then it gives you a URL (web address) for that picture. Copy that web address, and then come here and click on the yellow photo icon when you're posting. You paste the URL in the line it gives you and the picture shows up.

Welcome to NZ!! Sorry, I don't know anything about Tauranga, Mt Maungani, Papamoa or anything near there.

Congrats on your job offer!

Hi there.........

Was wondering how you were getting on.

Good news about the job - looking like 'The Plan' is finally coming together.

I feel that getting some normality (ie. jobs/schools etc) into your life as soon as possible is a major contributory factor as it makes settling in a new environment that bit easier and it all seems to be working in your favour.

Good on ya.............hope things continue to get better and better.

Hi zardell
Well "The Plan" went to pot last year when the sale of our house fell through for the second time (on the day that we moved out) anyway we were lucky to have people who were serious about having the house and from walking through the doors and saying that they wanted it to them moving in was 4 weeks (the solicitors didnt like that becuase they were harased every day until contracts were exchanged).
But I think the thing that got us to take the leap was that I could'nt get the job offer from England so we just came, sofar the hardest thing has been watching our son (Jacob 5yrs) trying to make friends with other kids in the parks or on the beach and him getting excited that he has got new mates and then looking for them the next day at the park or on the beach and then crying cause he thinks they dont want to be his friends because theres no one there, and then I have to explain that they dont actualy live around here and that they are only on holiday ,so the work visa is the best thing that could happen to us so we can put him in school and he can then see the same faces every day and at last make him smile when he gos to bed at night.
But apart from that every thing is ok and at least he wakes up with a smile as his 2 yr old sister (Beth) always gives him a big hug in the morning.

That's more than I can take at 6AM. The poor little thing! I hope you get the work visa very quickly!! :)

(Now for some coffee...)

So where are you now??

Got a bit confused (not difficult for me) 'cos your location says Papamoa, but your post reads as if you're in Tauranga.

Just wondered 'cos Steve and I are just down the road in Whakatane..... maybe another NW type meet could be on the cards eh??

Who needs Mascrat Manor..........:laugh

Anyway, let us know how it goes with the job.

Sorry the job is in Tauranga and we are living in Papamoa, we went to Whakatane the other week to look at some rentals but decided on here because of the beach.
Another NW meet sounds like a good idea I wonder if there are any other old NW's (or anyone else on the forum) who is local to the Bay and is up for a meet one weekend ?

I'll have to go as fight has just broke out between everyone as bought 4 inflatable hammers ( each 3 foot long) today because I was bored---

BIG MISSTAKE
