Kia Ora, I am a student in the UK, I am doing my dissertation on how the NZ early childhood education system has coped with globalisation and changing Māori culture.
If there are any teachers that could help me out with comments on any or all of the following questions, I would be very grateful.
Please do not mention the name of your early childhood service/centre.
a) Do you think there is enough instruction on Māori language and culture during teacher training?
b) On a scale of 1 – 10 how would you rate your te reo Māori (one being none, 10 being fluent)
c) What percentage of the children in your group are Māori?
d) Approx what percentage of your day is spent on Māori language and culture?
e) Has this increased over the last 10 years?
f) Do you think this is enough or could/should you do more?
g) Do you think the government has done enough to help you implement a bicultural curriculum? If not what else could they do?
Thank you for your time
Kind Regards
