Just checked the online EOI page and we've been selected!!!!- no job but qualifications and work experience alone. We haven't quite gone into a flat spin because we know there are more hurdles to jump. This is so exciting. Any advice from anyone from here on in??

Hi Lockstock, congratulations. My advice would be to start collecting all the documentation that will be required for the ITA. The ITA is basically a printed copy of our EOI - so if you have claimed work experience you need documentation to back this up - e.g. wage slip, contract etc. I wouldn't book the medicals just yet as they are only valid for 3 months and ITA's can take 3 months to be sent out. You may want to apply for your Police Checks though as these can take up to 40 days to arrive.
Also, if you haven't already, make sure you get your qualifications assessed with NZQA - if you need to, as this can be a lengthy process, unless you pay extra to have it fast tracked.

Thanks Pinkpiggy. We've got all the stuff ready for NZQA and Teacher Registration - just waiting for the 'selected' button to appear before we forked out all that money. I sent off the police checks yesterday (couldn't wait) We're worried about the medical though - who knows what they'll discover. Just putting out the fag and off for a long brisk walk with the dogs, benecol in one hand and grapefruit juice in the other!

CONGRATULATIONS.
Can't add much to what Pinkpiggy said apart from give up the Benecol (just for today) and have a wine or two tonight in celebration.
Well done on your selection.

Well done to you. Make sure all relevant parties have a4 copies of birth certificates with parents occupations detailed. NZQA are still taking a while to get back so we are having to hold off on the medicals until we get closer incase they expire. It's a bit of a juggling act and I now find I keep my fingers crossed and hope and pray alot of the time :roll
All the best with the next part of the process. Our ITA took 5 weeks from EOI selected.

Well done! We will have 115 in about 8 weeks and will apply on a wing and a prayer, and lots of crossed fingers. - Come to think of it, I might start looking for a special clover and rabbitts foot.

Fingers crossed for you here too. It seems if you've got what they want you're in with a chance whatever the total. It's been a strange felling all day though. I just want to pack a case, leave a note pinned to the front door and go!

We'd love to be at that point. It feels like at lot of planning, bordering on obsession at the moment - oh and keeping quiet and hiding it from the parents.
Warm congratulations to all those 'chosen' few.

We've got our sights set on Wellington, but this going on sight unseen and I've heard many people change their minds after visiting. How about you?
It is a weird feeling indeed! Like you, I'm ready to pack up and leave tonight. ;) Oh, how I wish that were possible!
The most difficult thing today is maintaining "the big secret" and not sharing our excitement with our family/co-workers. By the way, I'm not looking forward to that chat with my family. :uhoh

We've done our chats with the kids (grown up variety) but haven't told the elderly mothers yet. Not looking forward to that. Everyone has been sworn to secrecy here to - mainly because we don't want to have to explain it all if it goes wrong. Obsession is the right word for it. We're not on broadband and my phone bill for the forum drive-bys is going to be massive. But don't tell anyone will you?
