Hi

I am trying to work out what monthly bills you have to pay in NZ, do the following occur in NZ as well as the UK, but obviously under another name.

Water rates
Council tax

also the typical amount these come to would be good say on a 450000 dollar house. I realise this may be a difficult question to answer but would really help. :)

Thanks peeps

water rates are part of your main rates bill here (at least they are in wellington) it will vary from region to region. guessing from the price of ours you might pay about $1800 a year on a $450k house?

Hi there
our rates are about $1800 i think ,no water rates but we have uk equivalent of a parish council tax as well i think thats about $400 then just your normal gas electri phone etc. Our phone bill is usually about $100 per month that includes line rental and internet and we have a special number to ring for uk it costs us about $4 to ring uk for an hour.our first ever gas and electric bill combined in NZ last year was about $900 for a month but weve got that down a hell of a lot since then now we have our own house i,m hoping it will be even lower .probably averaged out over the rest of the year at $200.
We have sky and all channells except rugby and that is $96 per month. :nice1

Excellent :nice1 thanks guys for the reply, i am trying to work out my expenses for the morgage calculators to see what i can get. I have allowed $800 amonth for food and $800 a month for rates, car running, incl insurance etc. I think this should be adequate as there is only two of us, unless you think I am massivley underestimating costs. I hope not.
