I submitted my residency app (partnership) to the Wgtn branch on Feb 16th, and they said to expect a nine month wait. Just got a letter saying it's been approved in principle (just need to submit passport and migrant levy).

I'm absolutely stunned. Our evidence was far from the best - not civilly united/married, no kids, not been together that long, no joint bank accounts or property ownership - but we didn't even need an interview!

Now the only problem is waiting until this evening to get drunk...

I'm surprised along with you that you didn't have to do more to prove your relationship - our PR approval was held up for 6 months while we collected enough paperwork to prove I wasn't just using my OH as a means to flee the US for NZ :laugh
