Hi everyone,

Sorry to bring up a old chestnut but I've searched the forum and can't find the exact answer to this. My OH has just received his provisional teacher's registration letter, which expires in April 2010. We know that he's required to do 2 years in practice before applying for full registration, but does he have to do those 2 years BEFORE that expiry date or is it enough that he would have started by then? It's just that we're not planning to move out until November 2008 (family reasons), so he wouldn't have a chance to complete the practice by then.

Grateful for any advice, as we've got the horrible feeling he may have applied too soon...

Debbie I don't know the answer, although I'm sure something could be worked out. I can't see they would just stop him teaching. The best thing to do would be to send an email explaining you have had to delay coming to NZ, give them your dates and see what they advise you to do. :)

Hi Debbie

Mr Rr's provisional registration recently ran out. He is basically applying for another provisional registration. You don't have to move from provisional to full straight away - there are quite a few hoops to jump through in terms of working with accredited mentors etc during the 2 years practice that you refer to and in Mr Rr case he hasn't done that. So he's going for provisional rego again. In fact, when he mentioned the upcoming expiry to his HOD at school the HOD said the school would take care of it for him and whipped the form away - which is great as it saves us a couple of hundred $$$ and no form filling!
