We were wondering if anyone has a KIT Officer? When we got our PR visas back we were given a list of KIT (Keep in Touch) officers from various regions in NZ and instructed to get in touch with the relevant one.
We've tried contacting the Auckland officer without any success so far. Emails have so far gone unanswered. (Very welcoming :) ) We were just wondering if anyone has managed to find a KIT officer? Is it worth having a KIT officer and should I persevere getting in touch with one?

Other than getting a welcome pack in the post (and since we had moved by the time it actually got there - 3mths later - the owner of the flat posted it on to us - nice of him as it was a large pack and would have cost a bit) Oh and when we did recieve it - the literature - although interesting was dated 2003????????? ?? I tracked down a Dunedin email addy eventually to let them know we were no longer in Christchurch - but never recieved any contact either.
To be honest I think it stinks as I think that a little helping support from the people who are recruiting for us to come to their country may be the key to whether you stay or go in the first year!

I managed to get hold of our Immigration officer in Welly when we arrived - I caught him by surprise because I'd had a letter telling me that he would get in touch from the London office & of course he hadn't... He didn't tell me anything I didn't know already - in fact he asked me what resources I was using to help me with the move & took notes - so I'd say 'bout as useful as a choccie teapot! I wouldn't worry but its worth getting your welcome pack - the NZ roadmap is v. good.

So, it's safe to say, Kit Officers are about as useful as a fart in space! :D

We never got anything either, not even an Atlas......... got some sort of folder, but it was just all the leaflets we had already been sent while applying for pr, neatly filed!
Ah well, good job we are a resourceful lot, eh??

Glad to see everyone else has had the same experiences we have had!
We called every single KIT officer on the paperwork and got nothing from any of them. Total waste of time.
They should not offer what they cannot deliver I say!!

Funny that - makes you wonder why they get paid doesn't it!
shame there isn't a way of actually telling the immigration dept about the lack of customer service after the sale so to speak
LOL

I wonder what these KIT officers ARE doing? Same for us as everyone else - got the folder and map after we'd bought an atlas and found out about most things anyway. No other contact. Sounds like a cushy job.

Perhaps we should rename them 'Kick into Touch' officers or 'Keep Ignoring Totally'.

The KIT officers role is another alias for immigration case officers from what I have found - the same guy that was our KIT officer also sorted our 18A clause removal in the Welly NZIS office... - I think that the KIT part of their job does get kicked into touch!! Sorry no cushy job roles for those of you thinking of applying!!! ;)
