Hi forum friends
Steve & I fly out 17 May to Welly. Will be applying straight away for WP as has job waiting.Would we be able to book any medicals (if necessary) from here in the UK (Kent)? From how I've read previous threads though we wouldn't need them until we go for PR but I hope the more experienced of you can put me right on this.

As far as I am aware you don't need a medical for a work visa (see Kerry's correction below :nice1). You'd be better, imho, to have your medicals here when you are in the process of going for PR. It's not needed until the ITA stage (after your EOI is selected) and they have a limited lifespan - they must be under 3 months old when submitted with your completed ITA.

They are also cheaper to have done here (at least they were when we arrived 2.5 yrs ago!)

Hope that helps.

You need a medical if applying for a work visa of more than 12 months duration, and police certs if more than 24 months.
But, I would get them done here in NZ. Much cheaper, and can be done at any GP surgery.
