Please someone tell me-is it true-is there an early childhood teacher shortage?

I have been scouring the net and papers on line, and there seems to be no shortage of jobs casual and permanent.

How long would you allow the NZQA or whatever they are called to assess your qualifications?

I am going to look myself in July, I just would like some feedback.

Thanks

Michelle :)

Take a look at the Education Gazette website (google it) - there's loads of jobs for early childhood teachers etc. Not sure about a shortage though.

From what I have gathered from other threads on this topic, early childhood teachers are on the long term skills shortage list, but primary teachers aren't. Check on the NZ Immigration website?

Sam is right, early years are on the long term shortage list while primary are not.

NZQA can take a long time to deal with the paperwork.

Ours sat from 26th Feb to 10 April without them even passing to an evaluator.

Thanks guys.

I am early childhood (0-8), there seems to be a distinct shortage here too.

Never out of work!

Thanks again.
