For those of you wondering whether you will still be able to look hip when you shop in NZ - be afraid, be very afraid! These are a few shots from a catalogue that arrived in my mail box yesterday. I particularly like the use of chicken wire, tin sheds and oil containers as props. Very NZ!

(now where did I leave that engine oil?)

Mmmmmm, don't you just love the fact that the models make you feel human! :yes

Yes - in the Uk it doesn't matter who the clothes are aimed at, the models are always tall and gorgeous. I reckon they have just used their customers here?

The other thing that cracks me up is the Caroline Eve adverts...

Maybe it's just me but I find them both nice. :) They just seem so down to earth and realistic.

Hmmm, I'm not quite ready to don on the shoulder padded jacket and start hefting chicken wire around yet....

I especially like the expressions on the women standing next to the oil drums: "We may be living on a toxic waste dump but at least we can still buy this stylish blouse in both blue AND brown!". And those two women by the fence look like they just shook hands agreeing to a diabolical plot to knock off Farmer Bob and steal all his sheep.
(Okay, points to them for using models that don't look like they subsist on the lettuce and cocaine diet, but still . . OIL DRUMS?!)

I was thinking more "the love that dare not speak it's name" for the 2 by the fence...

Hmm, I see what you mean - well, once they do in Farmer Bob they can live happily ever after together on their all-woman cooperative farm love nest :laugh

I just choked on my breakfast looking at those pictures. Absolutely fanstastic!
The blonde in the second pic looks totally disgusted at the fact she's having to model with a container of drench!

yep Brill - real down to earth!.... Bet they have a loyal customer group judging by the fact that they are modeling for them!
I just don't get the drum picture though! - maybe it was to disguise the fact that the clothes were so servicable??:uhoh
Now I am thinking - thank god for Warehouse!:laugh
I bought a couple of tops for work - they were on sale at $12 and when I got to the till there was a further reduction so they cost $8! and the same went for the blankets I bought - they were $8 too, so I went back and bought 2 more!:nice1

Had to go find the website after that, showed pics to hubby who was conviced the pics were made up! (although he thought the one woman looked like Theresa Gatting!)
The website has some corkers on it too...

This is a company that have really embraced man-made fabrics! I see the models are not just on a short term contract either. Trinny and Susannah could do a special programme based around these pictures.

have to keep in mind the market these are aimed at. theres a lot of people who live in right out in the sticks on remote farms who do the majority of their shopping by catalogue so the settings are fine for them.
Fashion here seems to be a lot more variable than home and not so dominating. Seems to me to be more about trends within certain styles.

I just found this thread. Watch out NZ - your latest supermodel is on her way. I am going to feel sooooo at home there! I knew I had been at the forefront of fashion know-how all these years but no-one in the UK seemed to grasp my concepts. Bring on those oil-drums. I'm ready. So ready.:D
