Hi there we recently went on a trip to the South Island.

Route was:

Auckland - Napier

Napier - Welllington

Cook striaght ferry to Picton

Picton - Kaikoura

Kaikoura - Christchurch

Christchurch - Hanmer Springs

Hanmer Springs - Picton

Cook straight ferry to Wellington

Wellington - New Plymouth

New Plymouth - Auckland

2600KM in total

Highlights were def Kaikoura and Hanmer Springs - snow capped mountains and sunny days did it for me, although the whale watch in kaikoura was cancelled becaiuse of a Southerlie storm that blew in. Also swimming in the surf at Mouka beach under Mt taranaki will stay with me for a while.

Kat - Hanmer quads were $125 pp for about 3 hours in total from adventure valley. Money well spent I was grinning for days afterwards. We also did the jet boat gorge thing - that was $55 per adult and $30 for the kids - again brilliant but I did not buy the pix for that one.

Sal - get down there, truly amazing place - how was Oz?
