It's a book full of discount vouchers for restaurants, cafes, places to go etc.
Usually pretty good value - you can get 20-30% off the cost of a meal, or sometimes buy one main course get one free, or free admission to an attraction or something. You can recoup the cost with a couple of meals out.
They are available for Auckland, Hamilton, Welly and Christchurch.

That's almost enough to pay for enough margaritas with dinner! :raebanana
(Seriously, I love the entertainment book. For us, I don't think that it saves money in an absolute sense - it lets us try new places with less risk, or splurge a little more than we otherwise would. Like PITCHERS OF FABULOUS MARGOS AT FBB!)

We saved about $250 last year (yep we were going out a LOT when we got the book!) until July... when we had a surprise & our adopted daughter came along & then we kind of didn't get chance to use it apart from zoo visits & a trip to Staglands. However, our fave restaurant is always in there & so are tickets to kiddies attractions (rather be saving on margaritas though! ;)) so we will def get one again (in fact am going to ask hubby when he gets home where the heck ours is this year!) since we'll certainly make the $60 saving.

I bought an entertainment book for the Wellington area but won't use most of the coupons because my partner is in the US. I've already used the few that I wanted and am ready to pass the rest on. If anybody wants it you're welcome to it, just PM me & I'll arrange to get it to you. Might come in handy for people on a reccy or others who dine out a lot --

mmmm You have to pay for discount vouchers?
we get something similar in the mail for free called save and win - it has discount coupons for resturants, hotels, trips, shopping etc and when you use a coupon it has an entry into winning a holiday.

Well, I am no longer an Entertainment Book virgin - used it tonight and saved $19 off our meal for three which totalled $74 :nice1 Bloomin' marvellous.
I think I'll be using it a lot - there's a few kids entertainment vouchers that I won't use.. I'd be happy to pass these on to others... :yes

We paid for ours right away, but that's because we used a couple big coupons; New Zealand Symphony tickets (buy one get one free), tix for Swan Lake at the end of the month. We'll use the Downstage Theatre coupon to see Othello next month.
And as Barry said I'm sure we'll splurge on margaritas at Burrito Brother's :D
Last week-end we went to "Matterhorn" which we'd never heard of before seeing it in the book - do not want to say what our cocktail bill was (it turned out to be a restaurant with an amazing cocktail/wine list along with great food/service). Let's just say next time we go out will be for some good cheap Malaysian somewhere :roll.

If you order through Child Cancer - they get $12 from each book bought for funding.
Email to check they still have them though!:nice1
There are probably many other worthy causes that fundraise with them - check on google.

I heard it through the grapevine that the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary had them for sale, with a portion of proceeds going to the Sanctuary.

Try sending a PM to Sophia, - she's just moved house and I'm not sure if she's got internet access again yet - but she was the one who got me mine and Moorf hers.
I keep meaning to pop in and see how she's settling in, so I'll mention it to her, when I next see her.
Def worth having.. just need to get better at remembering to take it with us to places!
