Well, the OH got back from somewhere hot and dusty last week (only a short trip thank goodness) and as she was absolutely shattered I washed her kit. Unfortunately, I failed to check all her pockets. Now we have a bill for:

1 x replacement passport - £66.
1 x replacement PR and RRV - £35
Passport photographs - £3.50

Could have done without that, especially as we fly over in June!

Sorry! That sounds like the sort of thing I would do. At least it was something replaceable.

:o Ooops..... what a pain, you will just need to get it sorted ASAP.

These things happen, I nag hubby to check his pockets, but even so, I have laundered two football season tickets and three monthly rail passes.... funnily enough I have not had anything get lost in the wash int he last couple of years, think he learnt his lesson!! :laugh

I did that just after we had our visa stamped in the passport but got away with it by drying it each page individually with the iron and kitchen roll. still going ok 3 years and three trips to and from the UK down the line just a bit rumpled looking. I nearly cried when I did it though as it dwas only a few weeks before we were due to fly here and the thought of all the sorting out floored me.

Will reiterate the words of Pinkpiggy and Patricia. Oop's and oh dear;) Now if it was her doing this she would have blasted you, but seeing she was the one not to empty her pockets i think its only fair to give her a blast:laugh

Banter apart, yes its something you don't want so close to you leaving, so let this be a valuable lesson. Sure it will sort itself quickly.

Thanks for all the sympathy!!

Well, some good news yesterday - my wifes employer said they'd pay for the replacement passport. £66 saved.

Thank goodness - all sorted now.

Got the passport back last week, all payed for by my wifes employer. Given how close we are to going to activate the Visas I decided to pop into NZ House and get the Visa transferred on the spot. I arranged an appointment and worked from one of my firms offices on South Bank, a few minutes walk from Haymarket, where NZ House is situated. What a beautifuly day to be walking in London too, blue skies, though a touch too warm!

They were all very helpful and friendly at Immigration NZ, and I was in and out within half an hour, with a fresh new PR and RRV in my wifes passport.

A little fact I learnt today courtesy of a blue plack - NZ House stands on the site of the old Carlton Hotel, which 'Ho Chi Minh' worked in in 1913!

Oops and Oh Dear again:(

I have to say this all seems vaguely familiar!!:D My OH is always asking me 'have you checked your pockets' before she places stuff in for washing.....

'Yeeees...' I cry...

She still checks...cos she knows what I'm like....you know, say 'yes' but really mean 'no, cos I can't be bothered, cos I know you'll do it!!'

She finds anything ranging from tissues to money....where upon she throws the tissues at me and keeps the money:D

I lost a passport and my military ID in the worse-case too....the words 'that'll teach you' weren't received too well by myself!!

Ho Hum!!
