We have some large pine wardrobes that we have decided to take they appear to have parts that are untreated is this going to be a problem ? will they impound them, treat them or will we be having a bonfire on the dockside ?

can't you just treat them yourselves

Would do but its 6 large pieces of furniture and we just don't have time. Sure it must have been treated with something when we bought it, but just wondered what Maff will expect.

Hi, Michelle,

This will ease your mind.. I had specific information from MAF on this point. Just dust them and pack them. They will look to make sure they are not infested with borer beetles or some such, but other than a cursory visual inspection, you needn't be concerned.

No special treatments necessary. This is true for wicker items, too.

All the best, Rae

Hi Rae

Thats excellent news, should have thought about it earlier but only just decided to take them. Most of it is pretty new and even the old stuff is in decent condition not noticed any beetle holes !

Thanks

Michelle
