Hi all,
Brand new to the forum.:cheers and pretty new to NZ. Have been to the South Island twice on short holidays to meet the in laws, and am now thinking about moving permanently.
Have been with my Kiwi partner over here in Devon for 4 years, we have a 2 year old son and have been married for 5 days now :yes .
Thought I'd introduce myself as I will probably be needing a lot of advice, in return I can only offer a dry wit, but you know you'll love it.:exit

Welcome to the forum, Natfish :)
We have just taken my application for PR via the partnership route to NZ house this Monday. So in between 4 and 6 months we should have an answer...
And congratulations re the wedding :) We've tied the knot two weeks ago, but after 10 years and numerous children, it really didn't seem like such a big deal.
Good luck,
Daniela

Thanks to you both. Hey Daniela how long did it take to fill out the forms and get all the relevant info together before you were in a position to take the completed forms to NZ house? Just trying to work out a full time scale, as I have barely started, I wanted to work out when I might be on my way!

Congrats on the wedding - I'm going down the partnership route too (except I'm the Kiwi and we're trying to persuade NZIS to take my partner!)
We took the application in on person to London on Feb 6 and heard back from a case officer six weeks later who needed some further medical details.
We're just awaiting final decision now.
Good luck to you - and keep heart that the partnership applications seem to be processing quite quickly now. We were quoted 10 weeks for a case officer and then 2-4 months for a decision but it's been much quicker so far.

About 5 weeks for the police checks, 2 weeks for the medical checks, and the actual filling out of the form about 1 hour.
Bear in mind that police check and medical exam have a limited shelf life, so don't start too long before you are ready to submit everything.
We also had some varying information from different sources, someone from NZ house actually told us something not correct which threw us a bit: she said that my partner would need to prove being able to support me for 24 months. That turned out to be incorrect, although you need a partner as a sponsor, they don't need to be able to support the other one financially.
So if in doubt, rather ask someone here :)

In our case we had to postpone the medical a bit but everything was still on time.
Police report late Nov - arrived in 2 weeks
Medicals late Dec - arrived mid Jan (thanks to Christmas and NY hols)
Had already got a specialist report on medical condition that we knew would crop up in medical (and that's what's delaying us now as they wanted a bit more detail)
Took everything to NZ House Feb 6
Form filling was very quick for me and a little more involved for OH.
Had to get a lawyer to take a statutary declaration from me saying that what I had put on the sponsorship form was correct (I got an appointment in a day, but you might need more time if you don't have a handy lawyer)
I had most of our bank/insurance/rental agreements filed away so it was pretty easy to find the necessary.
We also included date-stamped postcards from various sources and some random partnership proof like old English Heritage cards and the original sign-up form...
If you already have partnership proof then you could be looking at the rest of the pre-application process taking only a month or two...
Best of luck!

My own timeframes for preparing the application mirror what others have suggested before.
I am also pleased to hear the backlog that occurred in the second half of last year for Family PR applications has totally cleared and that applications are not back to their previous time frames. We have been waiting since June last year, so hopefully the good news will come soon.

Hello and welcome to the NZ PR application madhouse :laugh
I replied to your other thread regarding WHV/PR but I saw this and I wanted to add:
My police clearance (£10) took approx. 2 wks to return.
My medical results were available about a week after my appointment. (£70-xray, £100 - medical, ~£80 for bloods)
My application was posted 2nd March (£420 - grrrrr!) and approved in principle 6 wks after.
All very quick turnaround for me - I hope you will find the same,
Anna
