when I asked for the address of a specific location , I was told (CBD),
or edge of CBD and XXX Rd.

What does it stand for? I am not used to abbreviations. :confused:

Same as what you'd call the town centre in the UK, or the city centre.

I work in "Manukau City" as it seems to be called. It's quite safe there during the day. Not sure about at night. I've worked weekends and evenings from time to time and never had a problem though.

I think "downtown" is like American/Canadian terms I guess :D
I always use terms downtown also...:D
