Hi,

I read that UK cordless dect phones may cause interference with other things due to different frequencies of transmission in NZ and that we are not recommended to take them with us - there could be a large fine if the telephone equipment causes problems to other networks of communication. That's fine - we've got rid of those.

However, we have a Linksys wireless internet network at home & it works great - Ian can be working on his desktop whilst I'm on my laptop on the same broadband connection - we want to take it with us - we know it will work, but will it cause problems? & will we be allowed to use it? :?

FWIW, this is the spec of the wireless router that Telecom NZ sold me for our ADSL:-

This message brought to you via a no-name WiFi card in the missuses laptop which happily associates with a linksys WRT54G bought in NZ. We have a few other WiFi devices bought in various countries that all get on.

We also have a UK DECT phone next to the access point, and have no interference problems in either direction.

WiFi and DECT are (as far as I've been able to find out) worldwide standards. Well, almost, there are restrictions at the ends of the WiFi bands in some regions, but in the middle its global.

Cordless phones - non-DECT - are a very different kettle of fish, they are very different by world region. Dont bring here!

UK ADSL routers work fine here on NZ ADSL, but the settings are different, however they are all documented here - http://xtra.co.nz/help/0,,5739-907829,00.html
