Hi all,

I've had a look in the threads but I've got a bit confused. Can anyone recommend some shipping companies from UK to Wellington? Or at least, can anyone tell me who NOT to touch with a barge-pole!! Any help would be very much appreciated - it's such a massive thing!!

thanks all!

We have the shippers in at the moment and they seem to be very proffesional. Not sure if they have a depot in your area, but they are called White & Company.

don't know where your area is, not on profile (why so secret) but if your in the Southeast we packed our own stuff and sent it with a company called Crayford Freight in the Grays area.

Welcome to the forum! We will be using Lanes, a subsidiary of Brittania in Cornwall. They are v professional too, though may not be the cheapest.

The problem is most of these shipping companies are area based or franchised so they share a name but the quality of work and organisation differs. If you know a local firm that has been used and has a good rep then it's a safe recommendation otherwise it's not worth a great deal. We used the same company, (in name) as friends but had a very different experience as they were from different offices, organised differently different standards.

I can only speak from personal experience, which for us was a bad one. I would not recommend using PSS.

I feel whichever company folk go with it can be a hit and miss affair. People will say good about one company, and another will say they had a bad experience. We went with Brittania, and they were great with us until we arrived and then we had a few issues with them. Think i am right in saying they owe us around 85 dollars for something and thats from 18 months ago. You may be best going with the majority vote, and take up the best one that folk say on here, but if you have a bad experience don't go blaming others and i'm not suggesting you will.

I was impressed by pickfords when they came to give a quote, and with the price they quoted. Not at the point to make a decision yet so can't tell you any more

unfortunately the guys who give the quotes aren't the guys that do the work. makes it difficult.

Ay up mate, still enjoying what Whitiangi has to offer?

Regarding PSS i have to agree with you. We have friends who used them and had a absolute nightmare with them. Without really going into it, all i will say is that PSS lost/forgot about their Container, and due to their incompetence cost our frinds an extra 2k in rental costs. These are one company i would say stay well clear of, but as i previously said "bad and good from all"

We used GB LIners and had no problems ,no missing stuff and no damages or damp goods. The guys were polite and couldnt do enough for us. Also at this end nz vanlines did a similar good job unpacking for us .
