Our daughter aged 6 is a member of the RSPB who are running a campaign to save the Albatross from extinction.

She reads their magazine Wild Times from cover to cover and is always keen to support their projects.

She decided before our holiday in NZ to sell cookies at school to raise money, she got permission from the Head Teacher - which is a big deal as they usually only allow healthy snacks.

In Kaikoura whilst we were on the Dolphin Encounter, she got talking with the tour guide who was so impressed with her knowledge of Albatrosses they invited her onto the Encounter Albatross free of charge.

She had a great time and on her arrival back in UK, invited some of her friends round to make over 90 cookies and decorate them. They also made a pretty impressive banner.

They made £60 which is going off to the RSPB this week. She was also featured on the Encounter Albatross web site. http://www.oceanwings.co.nz/albatross/ocean_news/

A very proud mum and dad.

Great to see the recognition on the website, it makes all the effort worthwhile. If she can bring some cookies on Saturday I will add to her funds. It will also save me eating one of those chocolate puds.:D

That's really lovely, we need more children passionate about birds/animals and their futures so you should be very proud!

See you all tomorrow

Thanks for all your lovely comments :yes

Can't wait to get over there, nature and wildlife are so much more accessible to children. We loved Willowbank in Christchurch too, as you could get so close to the deer and wallabies - it really does inspire youngsters to get involved.

Thanks to everyone from the North West meet who insisted on contributing to Aisla's fundraising efforts. There's another £4 to go into the coffers.
