Had a rare lie in this morning and thought I was going mad when the bed started shaking (no dirty thoughts here!). The first thought that crossed my mind was that this must be what it is like in NZ with the earthquakes!

Well just listened to news, and we have in fact had an earthquake in Kent, Dover area has had quite a bit of damage!

A few cracked chimneys and electric and gas disrupted to some areas.

4.7 on the Richter Scale (although also reports of 5 and 5.4 but the Richter Scale is never exact) and located 15 miles south of Canterbury at a depth of 6.2miles.

For those used to quakes in NZ this was a tiddler - for the vast majority of Kentish folk it was quite a shock. It really goes to show what a person can get used to!

I can remember feeling one in the uk about 20 years ago - a real shock, don't expect it at all. Still only felt one here!
