Hi all, i wonder if some one can help me, i was thinking about buying a pair of ice skates but was not sure about the size comparisons and the ones I have looked at also state (e.g. size 7D), what size is that and does that equal a UK size 7 (mens). Little confused. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a 4.5 in the UK, which is a 37 European and a 7 here in NZ. (This is women's sizes though, not mens.)

oh thats strange - my 4.5 (womens) running shoes in the uk are 6.5 here!

I find it really confusing here shopping for footware, some sizes are NZ some are Uk and they don't always say which is which, I've now started just looking at the show size itself as a starting point.

My bug bear is for the kids, in the shoe shops I've been in there are no shoe fitting assistants, you just have to feel their feet yourself and guess!! I suppose it may be because many kiwi kids go barefoot anyway, I dunno!! :uhoh

It depends where you are going to be. There is a large Asian population in Auckland, and so plenty of stores catering for smaller sizes.
You may struggle for choice in more rural areas though.

Usually UK size5 is NZ size 7, will vary obviously as they do in the UK depending on the brand etc.
Totally agree, kids shoes are a nightmare, particularly if used to having them sized and fitted, as it doesn't happen here.

Those sound about the same as US sizes. I wonder if it is the same system...

Hmm:confused: i'm size 10 UK, but here 11, apart from my footie boots as they are normal size. It seems to me that you need to go up one or two sizes.

It is due to the exchange rate I suppose. :D
