We went to a big campervan sale today and to give you some idea how much more expensive they are over here. We looked at some in the UK and we saw some really lovely new and nearly new ones for £25,000 to £30,000. The ones that even came close to the ones in the UK had asking prices of $180,000 to $220,000. :exit

We are now going to look at importing one. :wah

A few examples from the price list.

1993 Nissan - $84,500
1993 Mazda - $88,000
1986 Mitsubishi - $65,000
1984 Mitsubishi - $115,000
1984 Isuzu Journey - $94,000
1979 Ford - $42,000
2004 Isuzu - $165,000
1990 Mitsubishi $142,000
1991 Regency $265,000

OK so they were all in nice enough condition but come on.... they're having a laugh aren't they????????

It will only set you back $400,000.;)

I can't believe how much they are. And that Trade me one - wow! Very bling. Our Mazda Bongo pop-top sleeps 4 and it was $11,000 off Trade me. It's not exactly a campervan, but it does, and we love it.

Hi Nicola,
We are seriously considering importing a campervan. If you buy in UK from a dealer for export then you do not pay the 17.5% vat and pay the 12.5% when you get it to NZ so that saves 5%.WE have found these people who are specialists in importing from the UK to NZ. Take a look at their website.

Of course they may do an even better deal for bringing 2 over, worth a thought.

Kindest regards

Dave and Caroline
