Hi ,

We need some help/guidance on time line for changing the Work to Residence Visa to PR .

We were selected from EOI on Aug 2004 .

Approved Work to Residence on Jan 2006 .

Came to NZ on April 2006.

Got Job on May 2006.

Applied for PR in Aug 2006 ( with 3 months salary,letter from employer and other required doc)

Its been almost 8 months and we still have not got any info on our PR status.

we would like to know if there is anyone who has changed the Work to Residence Visa to PR and How long it took ?

you dont say where you are applying from. I know there is quite a backlog of applications for everything in auckland, but things are proceeding more quickly at other cities such as wellington.

we are applying from Auckland . (Skilled Migrant Category, Manukau Branch) .

My Husband is the primary applicant . Both me and my husband are working in IT ( the skilled migrant category we applied ) and the salary scale is more than 45K . My Husband is working as Contractor and I'm a Permanent Staff . Does this affect in any way .

Do we need to satisfy any other requirement for PR approval?

Based on my understanding of the W2R visa, you need to have relevant permanent work that is likely to continue in the future before converint your visa to PR.

My understanding was that, once you had completed your 3 months, the transfer to PR was relatively quick and painless. 8 months seems excessive, I would give someone a bell and chase it up.
