Hi All,

Sorry this question again..................just need some more help!!!

I rang the British high Commission this morning and asked about whether my copy of my passprt that I need to send with my 10pounds and proof of address needs to be certified, and I was told that the Metro police will only accept copies that have been certified by the Bristish hign comm in Wellington. IS this right? Has anyone else had the same thing? Does the copy need to be certified?

I have just sent off our applications for 'police clearance' from here in NZ to Norfolk Police.

The rules are differant for every Police force. Fortunetly Norfolk police clearly said on thier forms that they excepted photocopies. I know some will only accept orrigionals or photocopies signed by a Justice of the Peace, which I am told is free here in NZ. But i have never heard about the Bristish hign comm in Wellington thing.

You dont have to apply through your local police, but they do reccomend it. So maybe you could apply through another police force if yours if being difficult?

PS. I sent our applications off with two 10pound notes attached, as we dont have a cheque account... I'll let you know if we ever hear from them again

You can apply online with some forces as long as you still hold a UK bank account for which you have a UK address.
I know Essex are one force that will do this for you. Saves a lot of hassle with documentation...

Hi, I had to get my police clearance from the Metropolitan Police, and although I had to get the copies of my docs signed to certify they were true copies, this could be done by anyone. I just got one of my colleagues to do it, and got my form back a couple of weeks ago so it must have been okay!

You can apply to any force you like - they all get processed by the same office.
