Well Ive personally sampled the NZ health service and it appears much the same as the UK 1!

Started on sat evening with right lower abdo pain, nausea, yeh im thinkin ??appendix, anyway persevered till sun but was progressively worsening, I figured I should see a doc before Dan flew back to Welly. Doc ($52) reckons appendix and off to A&E I go, sit for 6hrs then see jnr doc, he reckons appendix. Admitted to ward, IVI up NBM but I hadnt eaten for 24hrs anyway, Doc rounds mon morn suggest ruptured ovarian cyst or appendix, ultrasound scan, inconclusive. Monday night IVI up and again NBM, then they still suggest laparoscopy to diagnose and probable removal of appendix. Dan at this point has well and truly missed his sun night flight to welly and is quickly realising what exactly it is like to have 2 small kids 24/7 ;) Doc round on tues and a diff guy (high up) states he thinks its been ruptured cysts on my right ovary and sends me home with a sick note for a wk (dan's face when I gave him it :laugh ) and a pile of painkillers!

So still in moderate discomfort (I never actually felt ill enough to have true appendicitis) but Dan has taken this wk off all together. So a bundle of doc's hardly any of them fully agreein, but Im in 1 piece and back home with my babies.

Just asked Elaine whether you were feeling ok Sat afternoon and she said "yes why" so i have just told her about your thread. Well she was surprised cos she had just received a from you and you hadn't said anything. Anyway glad to hear your back from your A&E experience, and i'm sure Dan is enjoying his time playing Dad again:laugh Just curious, but how will this effect his training?

Amanda - you have a sick note, so lie on that sofa and do NOTHING for a week, get Dan to prepare all meals, drinks, look after kids and give you an hourly foot massage.

Hope you feel better soon, and Dan doesn't die of overwork...

I had same experiences as you about 8years ago and it was bit of pain when hosptial drs can't find what it cause it, like you, my GP thought I had appendix too. I was sent to A&E straight away. In end I was sent home with painkiller, off work for two weeks after 4 days at hospital..similar!! spooky.....

Glad to hear you are back home Amanda,

Put those feet up and have a good rest.

You're right about it being just like UK hospitals, doctors can't agree on anything.

Good to know that you are home and hope the pain is not too bad
